* Some users of newer computers with Windows XP installed since the end of 2002 may find that the video CODECs originally supplied with earlier versions of Windows are not now included as standard. In this case you will need to visit this site (get video codecs) to download the necessary drivers for your pc.

Charging the battery
  • fit the noise dose badge to the charging pin on the CEL-6807 charger
  • connect the CEL-PC18 power supply to the mains and then to the power input socket on the side of the charger
  • red constant LED shows low charge in battery
  • flashing green indicates the charger is working correctly and fast charging the badge
  • steady green LED indicates battery is fully charged and now on trickle charge
  • unused charging pins will flash red
  • **NB** recharge the badges every two to three weeks to prevent deep discharge battery damage

Switching on
  • fit the microphone of the noise dose badge into the cavity at the top of the CEL-315 Reader unit
  • align the infra red windows in the badge and reader so that they can "see" each other
  • switch on the reader unit and wait for the display to show the last run information
  • press the CANCEL button
  • press the RESET button to clear the badge memory and prepare for a new run
  • press OK to confirm the reset

Calibrating the instrument
  • with the badge in the cavity of the reader and the infra red windows correctly aligned press the CAL button
  • wait for about 10 seconds while the cal tone is presented to the badge microphone
  • when the calibration is successful a message will be displayed on the screen of the reader unit
  • the analog circuits in the badge have now been set to the correct level of 114 dB
  • perform the same CAL routine at the end of a run after it has been stopped to get the "after" calibration

Start and stop a run
  • with the badge in the cavity of the reader and the infra red windows correctly aligned press the RUN button
  • when the start of the run is successful a message will be displayed on the screen of the reader unit
  • fit the badge to the worker and make a measurement
  • retrieve the badge and refit into the cavity on the top of the reader unit
  • make sure the infra red windows are aligned correctly
  • press the STOP button to halt the measurement run

Making a measurement as a noise dosimeter
  • start the run as described above
  • the RUN indicator red LED will flash in the infra red window of the badge
  • fit a CEL-6808 foam windscreen over the badge if required in a dirty or dusty environment
  • fit the badge to the chosen mounting clip
  • the CEL-6802 has a clip to attach to clothing or jackets, the CEL-6803, 68009, or 6810 are hard hat mounting brackets where possible, the CEL-6811 is an alligator clip to attach to a lapel
  • retrieve the badge at the end of the work shift

Recalling stored results to the display
  • fit the badge into the cavity at the top of the reader unit and align the infra red windows correctly
  • stop the run as described above
  • perform a calibration at the end of the run
  • press the READ button to transfer the stored measurement to the reader unit
  • the last run will be shown on the screen of the reader unit
  • use the DOWN arrow button on the reader unit to scroll through the various screens of data from the badge

Downloading results to a personal computer
  • connect the CEL-315 reader unit to the serial port of the pc using the C6801 RS232 cable
  • start the dBLink software package
  • switch on the reader unit
  • click on the DOWNLOAD icon in the software
  • all the runs stored in the reader unit will be transferred to the pc
  • accept the default name for the download file or choose another and save the data file to the hard disc

Output to a printer
  • select the run to be printed from the list in the reader unit
  • connect a serial printer to the 9 way RS232 plug on the end of the C6801 cable
  • switch on and ensure it has sufficient paper installed and is online
  • make sure the settings are correct for data transfer (see Operator Manual)
  • use the UP or DOWN arrow button to select the individual run to be printed
  • press the MENU Button and use the UP or DOWN button to select the option "PRINT RUN"
  • press MENU again to confirm the printing of just the selected run
