The CEL-553 is the ideal instrument for occupational hygienists wishing to carry out quick noise surveys in the workplace. It can make simultaneous measurements of the 'A' weighted overall noise level and collect all the octave band data that is needed for the correct prescription of hearing protectors. Measurement times are cut by a factor of at least 10 compared with the traditional method of doing measurements using a serial frequency analyzer. The CEL-553 is also the best choice for the engineer needing to reduce the noise levels of a piece of machinery since it has both octave and third octave analysis capability that enable the most effective solutions to be determined. All results are taken using the "Snapshot" mode with the user controlling all of the acquisition of the noise measurements. This mode allows the user to walk around a factory and take readings whenever and wherever they are needed. The actual start time of each record in the measurement sequence is stored with the noise data as is the record duration. These items of information are downloaded to the PC using the supplied dB1 Windows software at the end of the measurement |
