The CEL-593 is the flagship of the CEL family of real time analyzers and has all of the capabilities of both the CEL-553 and the CEL-573 instruments. The main difference for the CEL-593 is the addition of the "Event" mode of data recording where a user selectable noise level can be entered as a threshold value to trigger the collection of specific recordings that are considered to be significant in a long term noise investigation. This event mode can be selected at the same time as the regular environmental mode thereby allowing the collection of regular timed interval data sets and the impacts of the significant noisy events. It is possible to select a 1 second time history function during each event that allows the noise profile to be viewed on the screen of the meter to look for characteristic signatures of certain noise sources. All the events may be made in octave or third octaves depending on the instrument in use and information gathered using this function can be used to "correct" the period levels for "what if" calculations when results are downloaded to the computer. In addition to the regular event mode the CEL-593 features a rapid data gathering mode called "Fastore" where spectral results can be captured as fast as 100 times per second. This makes the instrument particularly suitable for the investigation of any short duration transient noises like gunfire or piling. |
