The CEL-621 is an enhanced version of the CEL-620 wide range integrating meter. It adds the broad band environmental analysis functions that make it the ideal instrument for both occupational hygienists and those interested in basic community noise measurements. It can make simultaneous measurements of the 'A', 'C' and 'Z' weighted overall noise levels with the Slow, Fast and Impulse time responses all at the same time. It can also measure with the Q=3, 4 and 5 dB exchange rates at the same time. In addition to the regular maximum and minimum levels it will also provide 5 statistical noise levels defined as the percentile values such as the LN10%. It can measure the 11 octave bands or 33 third octave bands (as the B or C model) over the whole audio range at the same time. Measurement times can be drastically cut by the use of modern digital signal processing (DSP) techniques that allow multiple parameters to be collected simultaneously. This eliminates the need to go back and re-measure the noise to get the result set that is needed for a thorough survey. The CEL-621B or C is also the best choice where the frequency content of the noise in addition to the time average levels of varying or impulsive noises are required. For example in a community noise survey for nuisance compliance the background LN90% and the frequency bands are available to define the noise climate correctly. All results are viewed on the high resolution LCD that uses color as an indicator to guide the new (or experienced) user through the measurement procedure. This basic measurement mode allows the user to take readings whenever and wherever they are needed. Run results can be stored for later retrieval by the user. The instrument can be connected to a computer using the integral high speed USB interface where the instrument is detected as if it were a standard memory card.
