Based on the popular Casella ‘APEX’
pump, the HazVac unit
is a watertight sampling system for obtaining gases and
vapors in hazardous environments with zero contact between the sample and the
pump.
Unlike other vacuum samplers,
which use external pumps, the Casella HazVac unit offers an internal Apex pump
which means it does not come into contact with the vapor or toxin on site. This
helps to prevent contamination of the pump, a common problem with other similar
systems.
The HazVac unit is set-up for ease of operation with a large
single external push button that can be started easily even when wearing gloves.
An indicator light on the outside of the casing signals that the system has been
correctly turned on. Once activated, the Apex pump will remove air from the
hermetically sealed case, drawing a sample into the gas bag. The pump can be set
to sample for a set time prior to operation. The sampling case is fully dust,
gas and water tight and is constructed from inert resin material enabling the
unit to be decontaminated using a shower, a hose line or a physical wipe down.
The operation of the system can be adjusted to suit the
required sampling situation with a variable pump flow, variable timer and
optional extendable inert PTFE input sample line. The sample is taken into
standard ‘Tedlar’ bags (1 off 3Liter bag supplied with each unit). The unit
operates via dry cell batteries with no charging requirement to worry about.
