Casella USA are pleased to announce the competition winner of the new CEL dBadge noise dosimeter that was shown for the first time at the AIHA conference at McCormick Place, Chicago, IL from 15 to 17th May. The lucky winner, Dave Steger, will receive a complete kit including the new CEL-350 dBadge micro noise dosimeter for his winning entry in the recent competition held at the AIHA conference in Chicago. Dave's reason for wanting to win the instrument kit was "... because I feel that the CEL-350 dosimeter is leading our industry into the future of new technology. I have been very impressed with the capabilities and the diversity of the measuring instrument. This also has international capabilities to expand above and below the current requirements." Having visited the Casella USA booth at the show Dave of BDN Industrial Hygiene Consultants in Michigan was particularly impressed with the new dosimeter that he saw there. When notified that he had won the competition later he said "I am really pleased to have won this kit. I have been using an older pack of noise dosimeters with cable microphones and our company has been looking at updating our noise dosimetry capability in the coming months. I believe that the new CEL-350 will be a perfect addition to our range of industrial hygiene equipment to use for our customers." |

The new dBadge dosimeter has all of the advantages of the regular noise dosimeters such as the existing CEL-320 and 360 models when used for workplace noise exposure measurements, yet is designed to offer the user the benefit of cable less measurements as the high quality microphone is actually built in to the instrument body. The dosimeter is attached to the wearer by a selection of clips or a hard hat mount close to the hearing zone so there are no problems with cables to get caught up in use. Comprehensive measurement capabilities provide for all measurements according to OSHA, ACGIH and ISO from the same measurement. Data storage for over 180 hours of recording give summary results and provide for 4 time history profiles during the measurement to see what happened and when it was noisiest. The unit is only about the size of a typical flip style cell phone and comes as a complete package with a variety of fixing clips, infra red download to pc and a comprehensive software package that makes measurements a breeze. We have tried to answer as many of the known limitations in this method of noise dosimetry by careful thought and design of the new CEL-350 dBadge.
