Casella CEL has recently announced the introduction of the CEL-350IS dBadge dosimeter. The new version of the popular dBadge cable less dosimeter is now available with ATEX and FM intrinsic safety approval for use in hazardous atmospheres. This will make the benefits of the small size and light weight simplicity of the CEL dBadge style of noise dosimeter available for users in the refining and petro-chemical industries where hazardous materials may be present. After extensive testing the European ATEX certificate was awarded followed by the North American approval from the FM organization. These two widely recognized testing houses have approved the instrument for use in a range of applications specified with the rating Class 1, Div 1, Groups A, B, C and D Hazardous (classified) locations with a temperature classification of T4. |

The intrinsically safe versions of the dBadge have all the same features and benefits as the regular ones including the fast recharge time, long running time and the same data storage and ease of operation. They integrate completely with the associated dB35 package for a complete measurement system. Tim Turney, the product manager for noise instruments at Casella said "Many of our customer in the petro chemical industries have been waiting for this development and will now be able to enjoy the benefits associated with the regular CEL-350 dBadge dosimeters in their own locations" Further technical information is available here and the first units will be available for delivery in the middle of 2007.
