Casella CEL "USB download adaptor" announced

Casella USA have recently announced a useful update for the dBadge dosimeter system and the Apex personal air sampling pumps. Called the 193200B adaptor the new accessory answers customer requests for a direct USB method to download run results from their CEL-350 dBadge dosimeters. Previously, the earlier infra red download adaptor was supplied with a standard RS232 9 way D type connector but with more and more newer computers only having USB connections the time is right to make the change. In the old system the connection from RS232 to a USB equipped computer was made using a USB to RS232 "virtual serial port adaptor". But this needed software drivers to be separately loaded and setup correctly in the Windows operating systems. The direct USB connection now simplifies the downloading of stored runs in both the CEL-350 dBadge series and in the Apex sampling pumps. New versions of the dB35 and Pump Manager software packages have facilities to automatically operate with the new adaptor and have the drivers already built in for extra convenience.
