Casella USA announce the release of dB24 software package for the CEL-240 meter

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Today's date -- August 1, 2008

Casella USA are pleased to announce the release of an all new software package for the popular CEL-240 sound level meter. The software package, called dB24, is a simple graphic software program that allows the CEL-240 basic sound level meter to be linked to a personal computer and to display the changing noise readings every second. dB24 is the latest addition to the popular CEL SoundTrack software series for the pc and runs under Microsoft Windows XP and Vista operating systems. The software is supplied on a CDROM that allows the user to install it quickly and easily when setting up for the first time.

Under its full part number, CEL-6842, the dB24 software matches perfectly with the new CEL-240 sound level meters and provides for the display of measurements taken with the meter in industrial hygiene or general purpose noise surveys. The software is provided as an optional extra to the standard measurement kit. It is also available initially for the CEL-240 as part number CEL-240/K2. It can also be added to any standard CEL K1 noise meter kit by specifying the CMC51 cable and CEL-6842 software CDROM.

The dB24 software allows the user to view the currently selected sound level meter settings and results on screen using an image of the sound level meter as the user interface. It will be an attractive addition to teaching applications were a full view of the noise levels are useful for students involved in learning about the science of acoustics.

As a standard feature the software will allow the user to open a text file in the form of a comma separated variable format and save the instantaneous results every second to the hard drive of the computer. This allows for extended data logging using the customer's own computer as the storage medium.

Results for the A and C weighted sound level with the customer selected time response are saved in the text file for later investigation and printing. This standard format file can be easily opened with today's spreadsheet packages and graphs of the noise level against time produced for reports.

The spreadsheet graphing function allows the user to see the time history variations that occurred during the measurement to highlight the times when specific hearing protection must be worn or noisy machinery needs to be investigated further. Since both the A and C frequency weighted sound levels are available the user has some basic information on the frequency content of the noise in question that can be useful for the correct prescription of hearing protectors.

Further technical information is available here regarding the exciting new CEL-240 sound level meter. Further information on the new dB24 package is available here.
